What Stillplay does (and doesn't) collect
Stillplay is a daily creative mission app. Everything you make in the app stays on your phone. The only thing that ever leaves your device is an anonymous crash report — and only if the app crashes.
1. What lives on your device
Stillplay stores the following on your phone, using the operating system's secure local storage:
- Your name
- Your selected archetype (optional)
- The missions you have logged, including their dates
- Any reflection notes you write
- Any photos you attach — only a reference to the photo on your phone; Stillplay does not copy or upload the photo
- A "notify me when Pro opens" flag, if you tap that button
- The date you first opened Stillplay
None of this is ever sent to Stillplay, to any server, or to any analytics service. The one exception — anonymous crash reports — is covered in section 3.
2. What Stillplay does not do
- No backend server. The app has nowhere to send your data even if it wanted to.
- No user accounts. There is no login, no profile on a server, no way to identify you.
- No analytics. No Firebase, no Mixpanel, no Amplitude, no event tracking of any kind.
- No advertising. The app does not show ads or work with ad networks.
- No third-party data sharing. Your personal data is not shared with anyone.
- No cross-app tracking. Stillplay does not track you across other apps or websites.
3. The one exception: crash reports
What Sentry receives
- The stack trace of the crash
- Your device model (e.g. "iPhone 15 Pro")
- Your operating system version
- A random install ID, not linked to you
What Sentry does not receive
- Your name, archetype, or anything you've entered
- Your missions, reflections, notes, or photos
- Your IP address (explicitly disabled)
- Any behavioural or performance data
Crash reports help find and fix bugs. The data is retained by Sentry for 90 days, then deleted. You can read Sentry's privacy policy.
To opt out of crash reporting entirely, uninstall the app — there is no in-app toggle in this version.
4. Permissions Stillplay may request
- Photos
- Only when you tap "Choose from library" while logging a mission. Used solely to let you pick a photo to attach. The photo is not uploaded or copied.
- Camera
- Only when you tap "Take photo" while logging a mission. Used solely to capture a photo for that entry. The photo is not uploaded or copied.
- Haptics
- For subtle vibration feedback on taps. No data is collected.
You can revoke any of these permissions at any time in your phone's Settings.
5. Deleting your data
Two ways to permanently remove everything Stillplay has stored locally:
- Open Stillplay → Profile → Delete account & data
- Uninstall the app
Either action wipes the local data. There is no copy on any server because there is no server.
6. Children
Stillplay is not directed at children under 13.
7. Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted at the same URL you are reading now. The "Last updated" date at the top will change to reflect it.
